Well, our computer crafting friend Shelley Woods from Nevada has done it again! She’s come up with a wonderful way to make a customized sleeve for any CD without having to make any cuts! Just design, print and fold! Of course, you can make this project a little extra fancy by cutting out a circle on the front of the sleeve a little smaller than the CD itself and printing on a square of inkjet transparency. Then glue that square to the inside front of the sleeve and presto! A personalized CD sleeve with a printed window on the front! This project can be printed on regular inkjet paper, but think about the possibilities if you use something like our holographic or foil papers! Truly spectacular results and with almost no effort!
MATERIALS
Any type of inkjet paper
Photos or clipart
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Open a blank page in your graphics program in portrait orientation. Draw a light grey line from top to bottom 1 3/4” from the left side. Copy and paste this line the same distance from the right side.
2) Draw another line from side to side and place it 4 3/4” inches from the bottom of the page. Copy and paste this line and place it 1 5/8” from the top of the page. This will be the flap. The square that results beneath the topmost line is where you will place your clipart and or text. (See below)
3) Place your artwork and/or text in the center square and print on plain paper to test the layout. Once printed, simply fold on all the lines. Slip your CD into the front of the envelope so that the folds are behind it. This will serve to hold the flap once you have turned in the corners and folded the flap down.
That’s all there is to it! Now you can even make CD sleeves to match the labels you print for your custom burned CDs – photos or music or whatever you like!
