This little Valentine card comes complete with treat - a sure-fire way to get straight to the heart! Our teddy bear clipart was edited in Photoshop so that he has a back that matches his front. His belly is covered with a heart cut from honeycomb paper and he holds a heart shaped lollipop. You can personalize this card by printing your message on a small slip of paper and then folding it over the lollipop. Just be careful if you plan on mailing him to your sweetie! You might want to add some cardboard to line the envelope when you fold him up or you'll break his sweet little heart-pop! We've included the graphic for the front and back of the bear (see the link below) but you can also design your own!
MATERIALS:
Teddy bear graphic (link below)
Heavyweight inkjet paper (We used a 35lb. paper. This is heavy enough since you will be doubling it up when you glue the front to the back.)
Red honeycomb paper(see Products>Fun Papers>Honeycomb Paper)
Scissors
Glue stick
Craft knife
Heart-shaped lollipop
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Open a page in your graphics program in landscape orientation. Import the teddy bear graphic and resize on the page as desired. As always, watch out for those unprintable margins!
2) Print a copy on plain paper and check the layout. DO NOT DISCARD THIS COPY! You will cut the red heart out to use as the template for the honeycomb heart.
3) Print you card on the heavyweight inkjet paper and cut out. Using your glue stick, glue the front and back of the bear together. Trim any unmatched edges and fold the card down the center.
4) Using the heart you cut out from the first copy you printed, fold the heart in half and lay the folded edge against the edge of the honeycomb paper. Trace the outline of the halved heart and cut it out of the honeycomb paper.
5) Glue the honeycomb heart to the piece you used for the template, just to give it a little added stability, before you glue it to the card itself.
6) With your craft knife, make two small cuts - one above the other - on the palm of the paw in which you want to place the lollipop. Slide the lollipop stick through these slits.
7) Measure the heart of the lollipop and print your personalized message so that it will fit on half of a rectangle just large enough to fold in half and cover the
lollipop. Attach this to the lollipop with the glue stick - gluing the front of the paper to the back at the bottom edge.
That's all there is to it! Pop him into an envelope (remember the cardboard if you plan on mailing him!) and surprise your sweet with this treat!
