Halloween Glow Decorations

The camera does not do them justice, but these spooky little fellows are both cut from glow-in-the-dark paper (see Products>Fun Papers>Glow Paper) and laminated with peel and stick laminating sheets. No bother with expensive laminating machines or clear window decal paper. These ghosts will glow in the dark after light has been applied and can be adhered to windows or walls using a glue stick with a removable glue similar to that used on those little sticky notes we all use! Removable glue sticks are available under many different brand names and in many office supply stores, making your decorations easily removable for years of use. In addition to lengthening the life of these cute decorations, the use of the laminating sheets prevents the glue stick from smearing the ink on the designs. This simple project is great for kids (little ones will need help with the laminating and the cutting) and any Halloween design can be used! This is also great for making glow-in- the-dark stars or planets for the kids' rooms! Stick them on the walls and ceiling for a magical effect!

MATERIALS NEEDED

Glow paper (see Products>Fun Papers>Glow Paper)

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Design your decal/decoration with your graphics software and print out on glow paper. The best designs are those that have little or no color and with a good sharp outline. Any part of the paper that is not printed will glow in the dark after light is applied.

2) Cut your designs out making sure to leave a tiny border around the edges.

3) Peel a sheet of laminating paper that has been cut to the approximate size of your design. (Our designs were each done on a half sheet of paper, so we were able to cut the laminating sheets in half and use one full sheet per design).

4) Place the sheet on the table with the sticky side up and GENTLY apply your cut out graphic, starting at one side and lowering it a little bit at a time to prevent the laminating sheet from creasing or bubbling.

5) Peel the second piece of laminating sheet and also lay it sticky side up. Turn over the original sheet that you applied your design to and GENTLY apply it to the second sheet so that the sticky sides adhere to one another.

6) Cut the design out of the laminating sheet, again making certain to leave a tiny border so that the lamination does not peel away from your design.

NOTE: You can also save some time by cutting your design only once, after it has been applied to the laminating sheets, but we find it easier to cut the design from the glow paper before applying it to the laminating sheets.

7) Apply a few smears of the removable glue stick to the face of your decal for placement on a window or on the back of the decal for sticking it to a wall.

8) Turn out the lights and enjoy the show!
