Funky Film Foil Valentine

(Try saying that one three times fast!) This lovely Valentine’s card is sure to surprise the recipient with its beauty. The red foil border on the card stock and the holographic brilliance of the Red Mosaic center tile and Silver Sequin heart border are only the beginning! We used glitter glue to punch up the text on the front of the card as well as to decorate the highlights on the little red and pink heart centered on the Funky Film “frame.” The inside of the card has a glitter glue frame around the photo of the chocolate and the text is also glittered with the glue. This takes patience and a steady hand, but with the help of a very fine-tipped artist paintbrush to wipe away any excess, anyone can make a truly sparkling, professional looking Valentine!

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Open a blank half fold greeting card in your graphics program.

2) On the front of the card place the text or message/headline clipart of your choice on the lower half of the card.

3) Place a square measuring 2 ½” X 2 ½” with no fill and any color outline to the upper half of your card and center it horizontally. Inside this square add a heart no more than 2” across (you will not be printing this yet, it’s only for sizing and lay out purposes.)

4) Print the front of the card on plain paper and fold to make certain sizing and orientation is correct.

5) Once you are satisfied with the front of the card, delete the square outline and move the heart off the page. Print the front of the card on the red foil border card stock.

6) Now design the inside of the card, adding clipart and text as desired.

7) Again, print on plain paper and fold to make sure placement is correct.

8) Once satisfied, print the inside of the card on the card stock.

9) Now comes the fun part! On the BACK of the sheet of Funky Film you will use for the square frame, with a ball point pen, draw a square that measures 2 ½” X 2 ½”. Cut out this frame. Peel of the backing and CAREFULLY place it on the upper half of your card, making certain it is centered horizontally.

10) Print out the little heart that you moved off the front of the card on a piece of plain inkjet paper (or if you want to get really fancy, you can print it on another specialty inkjet paper like our Iridescent papers, foil paper or Fuzzy paper!) and cut it out.

11) Turn over the second piece of Funky Film (we used the Silver Sequin for this part) and trace the heart you just cut out on the back of the Funky Film. Now, draw around the heart again to make it a little larger so that it will “frame” the heart you printed. Cut this larger heart from the Funky Film, peel off the backing and center it within the square Funky Film frame you already applied to the front of the card.

12) Using glue or a glue stick, adhere the smaller, printed heart within the larger Funky Film heart.

13) Using the glitter glue, “paint” the text and any other printed parts on the front and inside of your card. (Careful, this glitter glue takes a while to dry, so don’t smudge the outside while you’re glittering the inside!) Any little boo-boo’s can be easily cleaned up with the tip of a DRY, very fine tipped artist brush.

14) Allow the card to dry thoroughly before closing.

You can even design an envelope to match the card, if you like!
