Candy Bar Envelope

Candy manufacturers are no longer wrapping their larger bars in foil and paper so those of us who made candy wrappers found ourselves in a bit of a quandary. Well, no more! Crafters are smart folks, and so the candy bar envelope was born. Design your envelope however you wish and then simply place the candy bar - with the manufacturer's original wrapping - inside this envelope. The template for a 6 1/2" X 3" envelope is provided below. Simply click the link and when the image opens, right click on the image, select "Save Picture As...", and save the image to your hard drive.

You can use a variety of inkjet papers to design your envelopes. How about our Glossy Brochure/Flyer Paper, our Pearlescence Inkjet Paper, or get really funky with some holographic or foil papers.

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Open a blank page in your graphics program in portrait orientation.

2) Import the template onto the page and resize so that it measures 8 ¾” high by 7 ½” wide and center it on your page.

3) Save the file.

4) Add clipart, colored background, photos or whatever graphics you choose to the front of the envelope by placing it in the middle rectangle on the template (the one with the tabs on each side.

5) Add “Ingredient” or other information to the back flap (see photo above) by placing it on the top rectangle on your template. Once you have added all the info you want on that top flap, group it all and flip it both vertically and horizontally. If you skip this step, when you put your envelope together the info on your back flap will be upside down.

6) Save the file and print a test page on plain paper. Cut it out, fold on the dotted lines, fold the tabs in and glue the bottom flap to those tabs. If placement of all your artwork, etc. is correct you are ready to print on your selected paper.

That’s all there is to it! You can resize this envelope for other size candy bars, or you can use it for items other than candy. It’s a simple project that will look professionally done!
