A variation on our one of our other favor boxes, these little "blocks" are actually card stock boxes made to hold favors. The nice thing about them is they can be designed to spell out a special message. Why not include the name of the Mom-to-Be? Or use them for Baby's first birthday and spell out your little one's name? The possibilities are endless! We've provided the template for the box. Just click on the link at the bottom of this page. MATERIALS 110 lb. card stock (or the heaviest your printer will handle) Glue, glue stick, or glue pen Scissors INSTRUCTIONS 1) Download the template for this project by clicking on the link below. When the template page opens, right click on it and select "Save Picture As…". Select the file type as either GIF or BMP. 2) Open a blank page in your graphics program in landscape orientation and import the template to this page. If you need to resize the image, make it exactly 9.55" X 7.96" and center it on the page. This will insure that you will be within the printable margins on most inkjets. 3) Place your clipart on the squares that make up the sides and top and bottom of the box. NOTE: If you will be spelling out a message with these boxes, it's a good idea to write it out first to decide on how many of each letter you will need and what letters should be what color. Otherwise you may wind up with several letters in a row being the same color. (We found this out the hard way!) 4) Print out a test page on plain paper. If you are satisfied with placement you can go ahead and print it out on the card stock. 5) Cut the box out along all the grey lines. Fold all edges in to shape the box. 6) Apply glue to the end tab (at the end of the row of four squares) and adhere the tab to the side. Press in place. 7) If you decide that you would also like to glue the bottom of the box, apply glue to the appropriate tabs and adhere them together. This is where a pencil with an eraser comes in handy. You can use it to press the tabs in place from the inside of the box. That's it! Make as many or as few as you need!
